Research On Urban Land Development And The Disciplines Of Urban Spatial Expansion In Wuhan Since 1990s

Since 1990s, Wuhan urban land development momentum has been rising. At the same time, urban space connotation development and extension-expanding coexisted, and succession of the urban space accelerated. In the process of transformation in Wuhan, a highly representative and regular urban spatail development process is demonstrated. Therefore, to some extent, the research on the Wuhan urban spatial development can reveal the universal features of land and spatail development and the widespread existence of the common problems in China's large cities. As can be draw that the research will provide references to guide and control the development of space, for the planning decision in metropolis in China.The dissertation chooses the urban land development in Wuhan since 1990s as a start of point, and chooses the center areas and outer areas of Wuhan as basic geographical research platform. By analyzing the urban land development in Wuhan since 1992 from the empirical point, such as the spatial distribution, sequencers, type, size, the characteristics of urban land development is summarized, the relationship between urban land development and urban spatial expansion is confirmed, then variety of factors impacting on urban land development in Wuhan is expounded, and then the disciplines of urban spatial expansion is conclude. The conclusion can provide a scientific basis for guiding reasonable spatial development in Wuhan. Moreover the research on the disciplines of Wuhan urban spatial development will help us correctly understand which stage Wuhan rests at in the process of urbanization, forecast trends in urban development, and choose up-to-date urban development means to promote the rational spatial development purposively, organically, and in a planned way.The thesis includes three parts. The first chapter analyzes Wuhan urban land development from the empirical point since 1990s, and then sums up characteristics of land spatial distribution, sequencers, type, size in Wuhan; on this basis, the second part focus on the main factors impacting Wuhan urban land development and spatial expansion since 1990s, comprehensively expounds the examples of urban land development, and discusses the relationship between urban land development and the urban spatial expansion; finally, on the basis of analysis above, the last part summarizes features of Wuhan urban land development since 1990s, and then further examine the universal disciplines of Wuhan spatial expansion at the frame of available theories.
