The coil elevating conveyor is not only a kind of important Engineering machinery and equipments, but also is the main equipment in Coil packaging line and very significant for the Coil packaging line's sustainable development.China's steel coil packaging technology has developed for only 10 years, whose development is incomplete compared with developed countries. First, Currently technology and equipment is backward and major domestic steel mills to build and packaging have been built fewer production lines, whose specifications, production, production technology and equipment configuration, installation, automation and other uneven, the overall level is not high. Second, design and strength check for the elevating conveyor stay in the traditional analytic method, except a few enterprises use Linear static FEM, however, the results are low reliability, accuracy poor, not conducive to optimal design and improve the competitiveness of enterprises.Based on the operating principle and the behavior of the elevating conveyor, this paper designs the complete appliance and checks the hydraulic system to make sure the programme's rationality and precision; according to the production technology, using the latest model of Siemens PLC control system, programming the PLC control procedures so that the production process of the elevating conveyor moves all logic, automatic sequence completed; based on the theory of mechanics of materials, analysing the stress of the elevating conveyor, not only by the Linear Static FEM, but also by Contact FEM, at the same time, comparing the results and making the modifying programme.The paper treats the main parts of the elevating conveyor as elastic contact bodies and completes the FEM model, so it provides a correct and advanced algorithm.
