Currently Kunming, in pace with the increasingly strong economic cooperation and connection of China with Southeast Asia and South Asia, takes an active participation in the cooperation with above-mentioned regions. But the sprawl of concentric zone model and the divorce of research on urban and transport planning with practice have led to a closed urban morphology, lacking of its own characteristics and severe traffic problems in Kunming. It would be more advantageous for the city to realize its long-term sustainable development objective by establishing modern internal and external urban transport systems under the guidance of advanced transportation policies and measures in accordance with the integration concept. For this end, the paper proceeding from the angle of interrelation between urban morphology and transportation with the stress on the research of mutual integration of which expounds the interaction of urban morphology and transport system of Kunming by following the technological process: establishing theory frame ---case study --- conclusion and suggestions and draws conclusion from the actual layout of transport system. The paper is composed of 6 chapters. Chapter One is introduction on the background, objective, main contents, technological process and methods. Chapter Two introduces terms concerned and theories in this area from home and abroad for setting up evaluation system and theoretical basis for this paper. Chapter Three is the review of development of urban morphology and transport of Kunming and analysis on current situation. Chapter Four is the core part of the paper. Discuss the transportion layout based the future urban morphology of Kunming . Expounds the change of urban spatial structure from single nuleus area to multi-cluster, respective increasing demand for transport and objective on comprehensive urban transport system. Chapter Five expounds the countermeasures coordinating urban spatial structure of Kunming and its transport system. Chapter Six is the final conclusion on the contents.
