As an electromechanical equipment, elevator plays an important role in transportation of skyscrapers. Monitoring running status and fault information of elevator is significant to its management, maintenance and safe operation.Nowadays, most of the elevator monitors are separately developed by elevator companies according to their own products of elevator controllers. Usually, the monitor from a different company is unable to obtain the interface signal from the elevator controller directly. On the basis of latest development of the remote monitoring system of elevator and the comparison between domestic and international research and development trend in this field, a remote monitoring system for elevator without direct interface signals is developed by network communication technology and database technology considering that nowadays the elevator monitors are incompatible with each other and are not able to communicate with monitoring systems of other elevator companies. The system provides a convenient and vivid solution for the problem of fault detecting, analyzing and removing.This system is composed of front terminal and monitoring software of supervisory computer. Front terminal takes charge of sampling the signals of elevator status, fault and field apparatus. If any fault appears, front terminal will informs the server immediately. The universal property and compatibility has been carefully considered in the hardware design of front terminal. The system collects the signals relating to elevator directly and does not need to communicate with the elevator controller, hence overcome the difficulties that the companies have their own code standards and communication protocols. Front terminal and server communicate through wireless network, realizing the real time data transmission of the elevator. Monitoring software on the server is developed by Visual Basic. The data access module receives and processes data sent by front terminal, the monitoring interface in the software displays the real time running status of elevator with dynamic pictures and running parameters. The information of the latest ten groups of running status before the fault arises can be obtained from fault database by the interface for fault judging and information displaying. Thus it is easier to analyze the cause of the fault and remove the fault.
