The roller chain harmonic drive with dynamic equilibrium is advanced as a new type of slowdown mechanism contraposed small tooth number difference planetary transmission, through innovation in mechanism and advantages of integration. In this mechanism the roller chain is used to replace flexspline in traditional harmonic drive, and it changed the elastic deformation of material of the flexspline into relative motion of the subassembly to achieve harmonic drive by design of static and dynamic equilibrium. It not only has a advantage of cost performance ratio, but also blazes another way for applying the technology of harmonic drive. This thesis researches on the theory and the test of the new type of slowdown mechanism.Firstly, composition and transmission principle of the mechanism are expounded on the basis of analysis of the present development status in domestic and foreign and the new types of harmonic drives. The research of basic theory of the mechanism is accomplished, and calculation method of gear contour coordinate is studied according to principle of node distance compensate and calculation method of control parameters of the trough is presented.Secondly, according to structure project and parameters design of reducer, triaxial modeling and virtual assembly of the reducer are accomplished and assembly sequence and simulation analysis are established by using the software UG The gear contour coordinates are calculated, and motion locus of the roller centers and of the mesh points are presented by the software MATLAB.Thirdly, the prototype for test is designed and manufactured, then structure of its central elements are designed. The performance of the prototype is tested, and the test data is processed and the test result is analyzed thoroughly in three aspects. It can provide the basis for design and improvement of this type of reducer in theory.Finally, the existing problems in testing prototype are summed up and feasible projects are advanced for the problems. On the basis of projects, a type of transmission mechanism with single gear circle is designed. This mechanism has larger transmission ratio, greater carrying capacity and lower cost of production.
