Chinese Modern Architecture produced in a special historic period (1840-1949), influenced by the foreign modern buildings. These buildings witnessed the Chinese modern cities beginning, marks a special time to come. Hankow along the Yangtze River region was concession district of Britain,Russian,France,Germany & Japan. During the colonial period, with the concession building, Hankow modern architecture began to develop, and gradually becoming mature. Discard ideology of class consciousness, outstanding modern architecture and the historic area of their own are full of historical value and aesthetic value, which are worthy of research.French concession district in Hankow is there the longest one, so there are a lot of modern historical buildings, which are invaluable treasure. Today many of them are gradually disappearing because of our ignorance or misuse. Timely recognition of this and the rational reuse and conservation of these buildings are the responsibility of every citizen. This paper borrowing of field research from cultural anthropology, investigates existent modern historical buildings in the prevenient French concession district, carefully interprets how the experience of major historical events of the buildings influences the space of buildings and the historic environment, then analyses their potential value on the level of conservation & reuse, judges their presently existing status in accordance with domestic laws and international charters, and puts forward the problems.Using equal samples for reference is a good way to resolve problems. There are a lot of successful cases of conservation and reuse historical buildings. Through comparing with these samples, the author puts forward idiographic countermeasure which aims at the problems of modern historical buildings in French concession district.
