Along with the expansion of power grid , Voltage is not only a very important index of electrical power system. but alsoit is important to reduce the loss and improve the benefit of the system. Appropriate voltage level c can ensure the security and stability of the system.The reactive power/voltage optimization is an effective measure to reduce power losses, keep voltage stability, improve power system safety and economy. It is a non-linear, multi-variable multi-constrain and multi-objective optimization problem.Automatic Voltage Control (AVC) is an effective measure for improving voltage level and benefit. Its advantage is obvious, but its implementation is very complicated because of the nonlinear characteristic of voltage and reactive power. With the technology development of computer, communication , networks and automation level of power plant,it is possible to apply Automatic Voltage Control.This paper puts the design of AVC system in Anhui power system,especially in regional power plant and the primary benefit. A period of operation shows that Automatic voltage control (AVC) system is important for power system running in the status of security, high quality and economy. The performance of AVC in high voltage power system is feasible and effective t.
