With the application of composites on the field of aeronautics, the accidents of bird impact on composite structures have taken huge loss to human. More and more researchers pay attentions to this field. One of the measures to reduce the accident is to investigate the mechanism of bird impact based on both the theory and experiment of composite laminates, calculate the structure intensity and performance and analyzed the experiments, which can instruct the engineer design and improve the ability of the composites structure resisting bird impact.The paper summarized the situation of bird impact on composites structure, analyzed the process of bird impact on laminates using transient nonlinear FEM (finite element method) combining with experience of literature, and got reasonable results. Based on this, the paper analyzed the initial damage of laminates and the stress, strain of each layer at a certain moment. It also analyzed the influence of the ply stacking sequence, parameter of laminates and bird, initial velocity, angle of impacting, shape of bird, contact methods on the absorbing energy of laminates and the contact pressure, analyzed the results of bird impact on the sandwich structure preliminarily, got the conclusion that adding foam in the structures can improve the structure's characteristic of absorbing energy.Composites were widely used on the helicopter rotor and tail rotor, the components were the main areas of bird impact on helicopter. So the paper analyzed the process of bird impact on helicopter tail using different numerical methods (Lagrange and ALE), analyzed the results obtained from different methods. The paper also analyzed the results of bird impact on the structure by a certain angle.The results are of referenced value to do research on experiment and advanced calculations.
