With the freeway volumes and load's fast increasing, some freeways should be maintained and reconstructed in succession. It is still a new topic on the recycling of asphalt mixture presently in China. As a result, a mass of old asphalt mixture will be produced. The materials were discarded in the past years. This not only resulted in an enormous waste of resources but also occupied vast expanses of land. The issue that researchers and engineers should face is how to use the Hot Mix Plant Recycling technology to reutilize old pavement materials. Based on the analysis and research of Hot asphalt recycled mixture from home and abroad, the paper studies the performance of old asphalt mixture, asphalt recycling mechanism, and the performance of hot recycled mixture.Firstly, this paper analyzes the technological characteristics of old asphalt mixture through tests. Secondly, through asphalt theory the paper analyzes the mechanism of aged and recycled asphalt. New asphalt concoct old asphalt under the prerequisite of controlling the proportion of RAP. Thirdly, by means of indoor experiments, The relation of recycled asphalt penetration between proportion of new asphalt is established. It proposes Marshall mix design method as design method and evaluation standard of hot recycled mixture. The performance of hot recycled mixture has been studied by many tests. The test results show that the performance of hot recycled mixture have not more deference than the performance of new asphalt mixture. Finally, the paper analyzes economical and social influence of hot recycled mixture. It indicates that hot central plant recycling technology is a favorable method for freeway maintenance and reconstruction and especially should be applied in the region where is scarce of aggregate.
