Study On The Safety Audit Of Highway Intersections

With increasing highway network, as an important node in the network,intersections improve flexibility and accessibility of transportation,enhance activity and perfect the function of highway network . Although intersections can bring convenient travel,they exsit a lot of interweaving and conflict.Intersections become the traffic accident centralized place and bottleneck of traffic capability and traffic safety in entire highway network.Safety audit of highway intersections is the important content in improving the traffic safety at intersections and the basic premise of enhance highway network safety. Based on the study on traffic safety of intersections at at home and abroad,this paper analyzes in detail main cause of traffic accident at intersections.By useing traffic safety technology ,which contains traffic safety design,traffic control and traffic management, this paper also proposes a set of procedures of safety audit of highway intersections,gives relevant audit contents,methods and standards.This paper finally studies countermeasures for safety improvement using experience of safety governance of exsited intersctions for reference,contains engineering measures,traffic management and control and sight distance protection.The method of sfety audit of highway intersections and countermeasures for safety improvement, which fits for the actual conditions of China and proposed by this paper, can provide reference for its design and is helpful to design on humanity and rationalization.
