Space Syntax Analysis Of Spatial Grid's Types And Connection

Space syntax is the quantification theory on space morphology which was founded by Bill Hillier and Julienne Hanson of BartlletSchool in 1960s.It originated from the corresponding research about the spatial arrangement logic of housing and people's relations.Then it developed gradually into the research about complex cities'forms logic and social relations. Today, space syntax is used to estimate the performance of projects effectively.This article studies on the internal characteristic of spatial grid's types and connection with space syntax. It is divided into two parts.The first part explains the principle, background, profound meaning, analysis methods and computer platform of space syntax. The second part sums up the types of spatial grid, and attempts to use the theory of space syntax to analyse the characteristic, understanding and social attribute.Then with the example of Tianjin City, the author will make a quantitative analysis of its grid's types, connection, social attribute and then show an appraisal.
