| Infrastructure is one of the most important factors which influences city image, while transportation is a crucial part of it. With more and more subway lines built under metropolitans such as Shanghai, Paris and New York, more and more people regard subway as their best choice of traffic for work, school or outing. Built under the ground, subways have their unique characteristics compared with other ways of traffic. Subway users are prone to lose their ways especially in the intricate under-ground space. All kinds of signs, guideposts and billboards are provided to help subway users to complete their way-finding process. Large amounts of observations and interviews are all indicating that except depending on signs, users apply many other ways to help memorizing the routes they have traveled. The key function of subway is to enhance the efficiency of traffic, and make it more convenient for users completing their way-finding process, i.e. let subway users to get to their destination conveniently, swiftly and comfortably. The core issue of this paper is to improve guiding efficiency with some assistant orientation manners. The key thesis of this paper is the assistant orientation and guiding methods applied during way-finding process. |
