Recently, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) based on the modern science and advanced technology has been paid increasing attention.which is the application of advanced computer technology, communication technology, database technology and artificial intelligence to transportation to settle traffic congestion, guarantee traffic safety, and raise efficiency of utilization of traffic network. In transport industry, auto is the most potential transport vehicle. The automobile industry as an important pillar in China's national economic development will be in a sustained andrapid development period. Obviously, the rapid development of automotive electronic technology and the impact of motor vehicles from the technological progress are helpful for the automotive becoming a new and relatively independent pillar industry and forming enormous economies of scale effect. Now, automotive remote monitoring and fault prediction technology have been one of R&D hotspots of transportation in our country.Based on the mentioned situations above, in this thesis, the system requirement is analyzed and the system function is designed for remote vehicle running status monitoring and braking fault prediction system according to the realistic traffic situation and future development. The theories to build expert systems and the application from automobile braking fault prediction expert system have been systemically studied. The theoretical foundation of the wireless transmission technology based on the GPRS module GTM900B is the construction of the Component Object Model, which is achieved by using the functions packed in control package. This is advantageous to obtain the powerful remote data transmission capabilities and extend the function of the expert system. In this paper, we have studied the theory methods on the base of the knowledge base for the applications and GPRS wireless communication technology and explored the design theories for the inference engine. According to the requirements of software engineering, we develop the software of the automobile brake failure prediction expert system using Microsoft's Visual C + + program. The new interface technology-ADO provided by Visual C + + can allow the application program to access databases. The popular SQL Server database management system based on the Windows platform is used to build the comprehensive database and knowledge base. In order to receive data from the car information system and send data to the car information system, the circuit diagram of the communication modules is designed on the base of the characteristics of the modules GTM900B and the corresponding circuit board is realized. Thus, the communication problems, which are from the remote and monitoring centre communications, are overcome.The study in this thesis is suitable for the current scientific and technological development and renewal and is significative for the practical application.
