Old Cities

With the thoughts of city planning was on the premise of economic development, those spaces which carry on our traditional culture of daily life were destroyed completely by the twinkling of the eyes. The buildings were only emphasizing their functionality and appearance, the city road system only regards for the traffic but not for people and the simplicity of city divisional planning, have caused a chaos in the city, therein people lost the traditional relationship and the way of affective communication. They may never know those "Old Cities" which yellowed with age are the real vitality of the city. Therefore, the research of the issue was not only focus on the cities themselves, but also an extension of considering the problem of the new era. Namely, how can we really focus on people, and to build a "people-oriented" city which is emphasizing "area spirit" and suitable for us to work and live in." Old Cities" provided us with living space and they were the producers of our daily life .The research of them is the one that we do of the people's living habits and traditional living space which have formed with the development of the human society. From "The Comfortable Living Space" to people's affective communication and loving care, I need to consider the relationship between protection of the humanity and sustainable development. Through the early research on planning concept of the future cities, I can deduce a planning model that suits for sustainable development of the "small cities".The fascination which generated by the significance of "Old Cities" humanity is far more attractive than the new cities, no matter how beautifully it designed and built. We should place emphasis on the protection and extension of "Old Cities" which created and still creating the colorful city life and in hence to better promote city's sustainable development. Because of they are the real vitality of the cities.
