In recent years,with the socio-economic development,China's land freight transport has a rapid growth.Transportation is a major energy consumption sector,the energy consumption of transportation in the world accounts for about one-third of all energy consumption,more than half of oil in the world was consumed by transportation.With the development of freight transportation,transport energy consumption is also growing rapidly.Facing with increasingly tight energy situation, how to reduce transport energy consumption is becoming more and more important.At present,most of researches on transport energy consumption in china is still basing on a single mode of transport.Obviously,the energy consumption of rail freight transportation is much less than road freight transportation.However,rail transport alone cannot achieve a complete movement of freight,so it is impossible to achieve freight movement relying only on one mode of transportation.So it must be the road/railway intermodal transport.Firstly,the author analyzed the road and railway transportation energy consumption model and factors affecting the road and railway transportation energy consumption,as well as previous comparative methodologies to determine the methodology applied in this article,and developed the railway and road transportation energy consumption estimation model.Secondly,the thesis analyzed the impact of road and railway transportation operating characteristics to energy consumptions.Through the basic formula for calculating energy consumption of A,B,C change,draw changes of A,B have an obvious impact on energy consumption,and the impact on heavy vehicles is more significant than on light vehicles.However,changes of C have a significant impact on light vehicles than on large heavy vehicles.Through the analysis of operating characteristics of railway transportation,we reached the speed and quality as well as the length of the train is important parameters,when grade is 1 percent,the impact on energy consumption is greater,when the radius of curvature is greater than 2000km,it has little impact on consumption.Finally,the thesis applied the model to the 28 scenarios of simulated cases. Through calculating and comparing the energy consumption and energy efficiency of each scenario,draw a transport mode that has the least energy consumption.Type of train and road vehicle type was varied across the simulated cases so as to illustrate the impact of vehicle properties on freight transportation energy consumption.
