Frame is an important assembly bearing loads of an automobile .All kinds of loads will pass to it .So the performance of frame structure affects whether the automobile design is successful or not .With the rapid development of automobile industry the performance request becomes stricter and stricter ,which makes conventional calculation methods of design can't meet the needs of modern automobile design .The appearance of computers and the development of finite element method bring on a new revolution about the calculation and analysis of automobile frame structure .Using finite element method to analyze automobile frame structure and taking frame structure optimization into account make sense in improving automobile performance, reducing the cost of design and manufacture of cars and increasing capability of market competition.The CAE technology which includes the finite element method is a powerful tool to analyze the structural problems. The value of CAE analysis technology is that we can set up basic computer analysis model in the product development stage. We can make strength analysis, life analysis, kinematics simulation and dynamics simulation on the designed product in order to obtain various performances. And the technology can also guide product design and shorten the design cycle.In the paper, the author analyzed the semi-trailer frame based on the relevant research at home and abroad. First, the detail structure of the frame was properly predigested and the finite element model was built in the software HyperMesh. Then, the relevant limited conditions and loads were added on the frame under the curving and torsional instances to analyze the static state. The places with large stress were found through the analytic result. they were used to validate the intensity of the frame. The static and dynamic electromotive experiment was done and it supplied the evidence of the finite element analysis to prove the precision of the model. Finally, the initial 15 steps of modal were calculated as the frame unloaded, the inherent frequencies were got and the vibrant speciality of the frame was analyzed.
