In recent years, most of China's devastating earthquake occurred in the rural area. Earthquakes cause a large number of buildings in rural area cracking and collapsing, brought huge economic losses and casualties. Brick masonry structure is the main structure form in rural area. Because of the brittleness and poor seismic performance, Brick masonry buildings are extremely easy to damage under the earthquake. The problems, such as poor construction quality, low mortar strength, lack of seismic structural measures, are common in rural buildings. This thesis researches how to enhance the seismic performance from the construction methods and quality control.Firstly, the statistical analysis method, PDCA method, Quality testing methods, the Analytic Hierarchy Process are briefly introduced. The primary factors that impact seismic construction quality are analyzed. The content, goal and the basis of Quality Control are put forward.Secondly, find out the structural forms composition and characteristics of the brick masonry buildings in Hunan rural area through statistics and analysis. From the aspect of location, construction quality, mortar strength, area rate of brick wall, masonry way and the integrity, analyze the seismic performance of Hunan Province brick building in rural area.This thesis emphasizes to study the construction method and quality control of newly and reinforced buildings in rural area. To newly brick masonry buildings, analyze the choice of raw material, masonry way, construction points, and the construction methods of circle beam and structural column. To reinforced masonry buildings, put forward the construction process and methods of layer, additional circle beam and structural column, additional bridging using ferrocement. It emphatically analyzes seismic construction quality control points and defects, establishes the assessment systems of seismic construction quality using the Analytic Hierarchy Process.
