Security And Reliability Research On Elevator Evacuation During Fires In High-rise Buildings

With the fast development of urbanization, the population of cities is becoming larger and larger. Therefore, more and more high-rise buildings have been built, which have caused large evacuation problems. How to make full use of the elevators to evacuate people in case of fire has become a hot spot for international fire science research after"9.11".There are certain amounts of elevators in high-rise buildings. With the continuous enhancement and improvement of the elevator system in the quality, there is great potential value in using the elevators on the evacuation. So, the research and analysis of security and reliability of elevator evacuation has the important practical significance.Whether or not to use elevators to evacuate people in high-rise buildings become the key points of dispute in recent years. Many experts held the opinion that the reliability of elevators is questionable. If elevators are used to evacuate people, the system failure will cause many fatal problems such as getting trapped, disabled or even death. However, elevators are very reliable and safe nowadays. Using elevators to evacuate people safely in high-rise buildings may become possible.According to the fire features of high-rise building, fire hazard as well as human behaviors in fire, on a base of many domestic and overseas study actualities which are on safe evacuation when high-rise buildings are on fire using elevators, expatiating the main factors influencing personnel safe evacuation in fire. Through investigating the main cases of using elevator in fire, the thesis analyzes the advantage and disadvantage of using elevator to carry through safe evacuation in fire, and makes a comparison between elevator's standard and elevator's code based on those carrying though reliability analysis of elevator evacuation, then puts forward the setting request of elevators in high-rise buildings, and safe evacuation model has been developed to evacuate people by elevators in high-rise buildings in case of fire. Apply model in engineering example of elevator evacuation when a super high building is on fire. The validity of using elevator to evacuate has been simulated. Comparison has been done between using stairs to evacuate and using stairs and elevators together. The Security and Reliability has been proved to use elevator as an evacuation means. The analysis and the study's result prove that in the process of personnel safe evacuation in high-rise buildings, elevator evacuation system will exert great effect in critical condition, by its efficiency and large application. Therefore, it is reliable and safe. The research result will provide valuable references for the assistant evacuation of people by elevators in high-rise buildings.
