Traction driving is a driving method that utilizes traction force to transmit torque and power through frictional rolling and sliding contact between two mating surfaces. Traction force depends on traction coefficient of traction medium and contact load. Traction coefficient is up to 0.09 at present, traction medium of higher traction coefficient is unavailable. Improving contact load is limited by contact fatigue strength of transmission parts. Up to present, traction ability of traction driving is not high enough, in some application scenarios of high speed but small torque.This paper put forward a new style of traction driving with magnetic fluid instead of elastic fluid, which makes full use of advantages of traction driving and decreases contact stress. Magnetic fluid contributes to improving shear stress by enhancing magnetic flied. So the application of magnetic fluid contributes to improve traction ability and decrease contact stress.This paper makes fixed model analysis and parametric model analysis with 2D electromagnetic-field FEM software. Fixed model analysis focuses on magnetic field distribution and magnetic field intensity between sun gear and planet gear. Parametric model analysis focuses on several sensitive parameters of fixed model, such as oil film thickness between sun gear and planet gear, current intensity in three-phase windings.
