As an effective technical means of power management, the load control system is becoming increasingly important in the power sector. Load control terminal is the most central part of the whole power load control system, which with relation to a variety of important data collection, timely reporting, and other kinds of operations. The communication between load control terminals and the main station is very important.In this paper, firstly the various communication means in the application of electric power load communication were analyzed, and the communication skills were compared. Then the 130 communication protocol was studied. Finally, combining with protocol testing techniques and the function of load control terminal, load control communications protocol test demand report was proposed and a complete set of test methods for load control communication protocol in electric power load control system was designed. The methods was used to test the communication situation of load control terminal to check whether the running of communication software strictly conforming to the data transmission protocol of the State Grid Corporation. The test system has been tested on the practical test results, verifying its operation reliability effectiveness and the practicability in practical engineering, which can be used as a common framework.
