Coastal open space, as an important component of city open space, shows its high value in improving city coastal space environments. In recent years, with the deeply development and consummation of the public spaces construction, the research on how to strengthen the construction and management of coastal open space environment is increasingly widespread. However, sufficient attentions still haven't been paying to the users'requirements, the effect of the coastal open space in use is not satisfying.Facing on this vacancy, the paper brings in the theories and methods of post occupancy evaluation (POE), and chooses several representational nodes along coastal road in Dalian as a case study, using the methods such as observing, investigating, analyzing, and comparing, to make a use survey on post occupancy evaluation of the coastal open space in Dalian from the view of users. On the results of analysis, the paper makes a evaluation and analysis on the environment of the coastal open space in Dalian, and summarizes the factors which influence the coastal open spaces'use results, including natural environment, security, territoriality, planning design and management. Based on the results, the problems existing in the coastal open space in Dalian are summed up. At last, with all of these, the paper puts forward some corresponding advices and measures for the coastal open space in Dalian, hoping to offer reference on the coastal open space construction.The paper is only the stage of initial exploration of the studies-open spaces'POE research. Hoping the basis work can offer application experience of POE method in the open space, and be useful for raising the coastal open space in Dalian design and management quality.
