With sustained and rapid development of economic and industry, the demand of mineral resource is increasing quickly. At the mean time the number of tailing dams is increasing and the tailing dams become higher, the research of safe operation and dynamic stability of tailing dams are essential. But the research and evaluation of the safe operation of tailing dams under close blasting earthquake is less. So this paper mainly carries out numerical simulation of dynamic stability of tailing dams under blasting earthquake. To research this problem, this main works are as follows:(1) According to the material property of tailing dams, this paper has the seepage analysis at different length of dry beach by two-dimensional seepage model, and gets the saturation line. The tailings stacking dam is divided into two typical materials (saturated and dry) by saturation line.(2) Based on the materials partitions of tailings dam, this paper makes two-dimensional finite element calculation model and has pseudo-static finite element analysis by using finite element program of Duncan-Chang nonlinear E-B model. The static displacement and stress are obtained by calculation with dry beach 100m,200m,300m and 400m length.(3) Based on actual exploration data, static calculation results, and blasting earthquake wave, the dynamic acceleration is obtained by 2-D pseudo-static finite element dynamic analysis of the dam. Besides this paper makes liquefaction analysis of the dam by Seed simple empirical method.(4) By dynamic stability calculation method (pseudo-static method), stability analysis of the dam is made in this paper. The calculation results show that the dam is steady, but the stability safety is smaller than the standardization when the length of dry beach is less than 100m and the dam will be instability.Finally, in order to keep the dynamic stability and safety of tailings dam, we should control the length of dry beach and limit the height of the saturation line effectively.
