Research On Measures Of Railway Participated In Urban Common Traffic

Along with economic development, cities have become more and more bigger, and now we have entered an era when a city finally becomes a metropolis. The metropolis uses the original city as its core, and surrounding counties as its branches. The formation and development of a metropolis makes a quantity of people and goods travel back and forth thus worsening urban traffic. Because of its big capacity, speed, and punctuality, the railway not only relieves the stress of urban traffic, but also pushes the formation of the whole big metropolis structure. However, it is impractical to build a lot of urban rail transit in most cities of China because of the high cost of rail transit. And therefore, the development of metropolises needs to employ a new method to solve the traffic problem.The formation and development of big metropolises causes many railway mains and laterals to be surrounded by cities and counties. That not only affects railways a lot, but also partitions cities terribly. In order to adapt to cities'development, plenty of big passenger and freight stations have moved to the periphery of cities. Then the original equipment and transport are wasted. Under the new development conditions, railways ought to find a fresh development way to be competitive to make good use of railway resources and improve transportation.Under the above dual background, learning from development experiences both domestically and abroad, this essay will research on the measures of railways taken part in urban public traffic. The measure is to melt railways into urban traffic, forming a comprehensive transportation. That can not only relieve urban traffic stress, but also bring a fresh idea to railway development. This essay is divided into two parts:the first one is theory study, which elaborates the necessity and feasibility of the railway participating in urban public traffic, and detailed proposal research; the second one is on case analysis, taking Chongqing City as an example to discuss the measures taken by the railway hinge for participating in the urban public traffic of Chongqing.
