Super-high-rise solar chimney is a significant component of solar chimney power plant systems. The characteristics such as huge volume, complicated load condition, hard to design and construct, are the focal and difficult points of technology study of solar chimney power plant systems at present. Based on the current studies on solar energy chimney and high-rise structures, systematic analysis on structure system of Ultra-high-rise solar chimney and performances under wind load of two kinds of chimneys was carried out, and provided the basis for design of the solar chimney by conceptual model test.Firstly, solar chimneys were classified based upon materials, structure system and constraints. Exertion and effect of pre-stressing were summarized. Meanwhile two new types of solar chimneys, tensegrity style and tri-cylinder style, were presented, with their components and characteristics being detailly described.Secondly, studies concerning a chimney of a 100 MW solar chimney power plant system was carried out, involving analyzing static behavior of the chimney under wind load and self weight, researching the eigenvalue buckling modes and ultimate bearing capacity, and analyzing primary dynamic performance.Thirdly, topologies of single-layer triaxial cylindrical and local double-layer triaxial cylindrical grid structures were introduced. Static performance of triaxial cylindrical grid structure under wind load were studied, taking into consideration the influence of layout of radiating cables, area of sections and initial pre-stress. Stability and primary dynamic performance of local double-layer triaxial cylindrical grid structure were further analyzed.Besides, conceptual experiments on three solar energy chimney models were implemented to study the contribution of oblique cables to structure's lateral stiffness and influence of radiating cables to section stiffness.All studies were summarized by the end, obtaining referential conclusions and pointing out problems for further study.
