With the rapid development of computer technology and industrial economy, the modern design is used more and more widely.Nowadays,many enterprises and design department have used finite element method widely on the manufacturing process simulation of product,optimization design and so on.Finite element analysis of the product,can shorten the development cycles of product,reduce the costs,improve production efficiency and competitiveness,has important social significance and economic significance.The study of this paper is first arm structure of the truck crane.The arm of basic structure is modeled by parametric with ANSYS as a tool. The structure of finite element static analysis is based on mesh generation and load constraints,which to verify the safety of structural design and the necessity of optimization.In this paper,an idea about optimal design of truck crane is proposed:we can first determine the basic arm section and wall thickness by optimization on basic arm condition,secondly the arm section size of the remaining sections can be determined by the gap between them,at last we determine the thickness of other sections on all outriggers condition.In the process of the optimization of basic arm,we select section size of the crane as the design variables,select allowable stress for the boom as the state variables,select the crane's weight as the objective function.,carry out the optimization on the basic arm using the first order.The results of optimized show that the desired objective results have been achieved,the strength and stiffness of basic arm structure has been guaranteed,the quality has been declined,the structure is more reasonable,and the overall performance has been improved. This paper is divided into six chapteres, the first chapter introduces background of the research, and discribes the finite element software ANSYS;the second chapter describes the structure of the crane and determine the optimal and design of the crane; the third chapter makes the finite element static structural analysis of basic-arm; the fourth chapter makes the finite element optimal design of the basic arm; the fifth chapter introduces the parameter design language APDL based on ANSYS in particular, and makes the static analysis and optimization design of the crane with APDL, which proves the reliability and efficiency of optimization of finite element parametric design; the sixth chapter makes summary of the work on this paper and makes prospect of the future.
