The development of high-speed railway and the rapid increase in the size of urban railway system bring lots of new subjects on the study of vehicle control performance. The research on the propulsion system control method needs to analyze the load characteristic of the traction motor, which is the controlled object of the system, and establish the load simulation system to provide a realistic work environment of traction motor for new test programs. Based on the analysis of force interaction between traction motor, transmission gear, wheelset and wheel-rail during the operation of railway vehicles, this thesis establishes the mathematical model of motor-wheelset traction system, respectively from the perspective of mechanics and power, drawing out the expression of the actual load of traction motor; and equivalents the actual load to two parts as damping load and inertial load, and puts forwards two control methods of DC load machine which is used as the load machine to imitate the inertia load torque. It discusses the influence of the inertia time constant to the performance of rotor speed differential control, and concludes the way how to choose the best value of the inertia time constant. It also analyzes on three feasible methods to mechanically imitate the inertia load by flywheel set. Consulting with the actual parameters and the traction performance curve of CRH2A EMUs, it authenticates and simulates the methods above and proves their accuracy. By comparing the characteristic curve of actual motor with that of the experimental motor, it indicates how to reduce the traction performance curve to fit the power of the load simulation system in laboratory; Taking the reduced curve as the given input, it realizes constant load, damping load and inertia load experiments. The results indicate that the system control methods are reasonable and effective, and can exactly imitate the actual motor load.
