Heavy-load Railway trucks undertake quite large longitudinal, vertical, lateral and torsional load. The fatigue failure induced by these loads is the main failure mode. Reaserching on lateral and torsional load, finding out the internal relationships between the loads and structural fatigue of vehicle body have great significance in promoting the level of structure design of vehicle body.This paper take C80B wagon as research object, testing and analysising the lateral and torsional load of T20,000 heavy haul trains serviceing on Datong-Qinghuangdao special railway lines for carrying coal. The contents of this paper can be summerized as follows:(1) Taking walkthrough tests on dynamic load of C80B wagon T20,000 heavy haul trains serviceing on Datong-Qinghuangdao special railway lines. On the basis, the side bearing's load-time history collected from the test has been transforming into lateral and torsional load's load-time history.(2) Compiling each round trip's lateral and torsional load spectrums by rain-flow counting method, and doing statistical analysis, making out the lateral and torsional load spectrum of each condition with high confidence. (3) Establishing the C80B wagon's finite element model, doing stress calculation of vehicle body under the lateral and torsional load, finding out the stress response points, and establishing the relationship between the load and stress magnitude. (4) Transforming the lateral and torsional load spectrum to stress response points's stress spectrums. According to fatigue damage theory, calculating the fatigue damage of the stress response points, revealing the regularity of fatigue damage induced by lateral and torsional load spectrum.
