Study On Tourism Signage System Plan And Design Of Xibaipo Peony Garden

Peony Garden in Xibaipo relies on the red culture, and the natural sightseeing of the forest park and the folk custom, where has held Peony Festival for ten years because of its peony. Currently, its tourism development has formed appropriate scale, while the construction of Tourism Signage System has been ignored during this process, without which the tourists always feel confused of the scenic location, tour route and scenic content, especially when there is no tourist guide, thus will affect the quality of the travel directly. Therefore, redesigning the Tourism Signage System seems so imperative.(1) The paper established an index system for evaluating the Tourism Signage System based on the results of previous studies, which contains six evaluation projects, they are integration, humanization, entertaining, standardization, security, economy. Besides, the index system includes 15 specific evaluation factor, they are the type and quantity of signage, information capacity, the layout of signage, attention, identification, understanding, comfort, characteristic of modeling, material and texture, the integration with environment, the contrast of Chinese and English, the design of graphic symbol, maintainability, the cycle of use and recycling. Meanwhile the paper referred to AHP, Delphi and Expert Choice to calculate each evaluation index, and then the results were sorted and analyzed. Next it evaluated the currently existing Tourism Signage System of the peony garden by using the index system independent and then composite. According to the assignment and the rating standard, it found the current Tourism Signage System of peony garden is unqualified, and it could not reach the rating standard of national A-level scenic spot, that made the Tourism Signage System lose their value for service, and this situation impacted the quality of service and environment directly, even the whole scenic images.(2) It investigated the relationship between the planning-design of Tourism Signage System and five other factors as follows: tourism resources, signage function, tourism subject, roads and nodes and surrounding landscape. Furthermore it generalized the design principles for the Tourism Signage System of peony garden. The principles of systemic, ecology, humanity, regional cultural and normative are involved.(3) The paper extracted three indexes through theory of ergonomics, they are height of sighting line, visual angle and sight distance, utilized geometry and mathematical formula among the indexes and tourism signage, and then summarized the method for calculating the height and distance of tourism signage. Simultaneously, by the method it reached conclusion that the optimal height range is from 0.8m to 2.2m. Meanwhile it designed 16 subgroups specific heights according to the style and function of tourism signage. Similarly, the most appropriate signage distance of different roads are calculated, they are 8.6m, 14.3m and 20.0m respectively, what will provide scientific data to support the designation of tourism signage of peony garden. Finally, it accomplished the programming of tourism signage system of peony garden by node localization pattern.(4) The paper applied Combination of letters and numbers while applied hierarchical number to classify the information of the tourism signage of 53 areas in the peony garden, then integrated other information material about tourism signage, the design program for tourism signage of Peony Garden in Xibaipo was completed, and all of them are based on the principles that it's easy to understand, illustrated by pictures and words, and combined with Science and Interest.(5) The designation of tourism signage of Peony Garden commenced with four aspects as below, mode, material, style of calligraphy and graphic symbol. At the same time the peony culture elements and the technique of expression were fully integrated into the design. In addition, the final 16 effect pictures of the tourism signage in the Peony Garden were finished by the software such as AutoCAD,Photoshop,3D and so on.In short, I hope this achievement can play roles on the planning-design of Tourism Signage System as reference and basis in the future.
