Using coal-bed methane to generate power which converts coal-bed methane to green environmental electricity is a new kind of technology which possesses many functions such as environmental protection, clean energy, resource integration etc. As an efficient detecting, controlling and dispatching method in manufacturing facilities and in the process of production, monitoring system has been increasingly applied to many fields. The application of monitoring system in coal-bed methane power generation has significance to improve the efficiency of the process, which can effectively and reliably realize the automatic monitoring in the process of coal-bed methane power generation.Based on the process of a coal-bed methane power station, together with the automation technology, powerful configuration technology, the industrial communication network technology and the guidance of Modularization design, the paper designs a PC monitoring system which is based on WinCC configuration software, and realizes many functions including data collection, fettle watching etc, and offers a favorable man-machine interface for the production site .This paper starts with the background concerning the theme and research significance, and reviews the development of the industrial monitoring system,and specifies the research purpose. Then based on the process of the coal-bed methane power generation and the control demand of the project, structure design and software constitution of the monitoring system are proposed. According to the specific circumstances of the production process and the comparative analysis of various configuration softwares,the paper tends to choose WinCC, and a set of solution of PC monitoring system for the process of coal-bed methane power generation is proposed.In the very process of designing, the paper focuses on the key issues of the PC monitoring system and proposes relevant solutions, including: adopting the interior compositive relation data-base system and the connection between the high class language VB and the SQL Server 2005. We achieves manufacturing managerial function such as the flexible data querying and report generation; using third-party software makes HMI more conveniently, efficiently, friendly; dealing with many kinds of complex data based on the computer's characteristics such as fast speed, large capacity etc. on the WinCC improves equipment utilization. In the end, the paper illustrates the communication methods between WinCC and PLC and realizes the remote monitoring of coal-bed methane power generation process.
