Water environmental carrying capacity is an important part among various kinds of environmental bearing capacities in a country/region's sustainable development process, and it is the bottleneck of restricting an area's development. With the rapid development of urbanization, the urban water consumption also increases; as a result, we are confronted with a series of environmental problems that threaten the urban water environment, such as water pollution, water quality deterioration, water shortage, continuous decline of groundwater table and so on. We must take effective measures to prevent further deterioration of urban water environment. Therefore, this paper puts focus on the coordinated development of water environment with economic development, and conducts a study on water environmental carrying capacity in Hohhot.Firstly, this paper starts with the study of bearing media (water resources quantity and water quality) of water environmental carrying capacity, and is based on the bearing object (the condition of resources supply, carrying capacity, social and economic conditions and so on) of water environmental carrying capacity. It establishes an index system of water environmental carrying capacity in Hohhot, which comprises 12 indexes–per capita water resources, water supply and demand ratio, utilization ratio of water resources, rural per capital net income, urban Engel index, per capita GDP, urbanization level, dilution ratio, municipal sewage BOD5/COD, disposal ratio of municipal sewage, discharge standard-meeting rate of industrial waste water and recycling rate of industrial water. It uses analytic hierarchy process to determine the relative importance of the evaluative indexes. Secondly, this paper adopts the method of"mould and method together"to construct a comprehensive evaluation model of water environmental carrying capacity, in order to evaluate the status quo of water environmental carrying capacity in Hohhot. Finally, this paper uses a combined method of unary linear regression model and multiple linear regression model to construct a forecasting model of water environmental carrying capacity, in order to predict and evaluate the water environmental carrying capacity of Hohhot in the next 10 years.Through systematic study and comprehensive evaluation, Hohhot in 2000 and 2007 performance of Water Environment Carrying Capacity as "poor" performance of the water environment status as "vulnerable"; through the comparison of two forecasting methods, BP network prediction results are good, BP network prediction results of evaluation results, Hohhot in 2011 to 2020 the performance level of the water environment carrying a "worse" in the water environment status as "vulnerable."Hohhot Urban water environment carrying capacity is mainly affected by the Engel coefficient, the level of urbanization, urban sewage treatment rate of industrial wastewater discharge standard rate and industrial reuse of water rates and other factors and so on. Therefore, in order to make water resources and water environment generally support the long-term development of society and economy, we should consider mainly control process of urbanization, urban and rural population relative balance to avoid excessive concentration of population caused water waste, strengthen industrial water technology reform, improve industrial repetition, authors to increase urban sewage treatment plants to improve, improve sewage treatment.
