As one of urban rail vehicles, straddle-type monorail vehicle owning the special head shape is suitable for such big city as ChongQing, which is mountainous, having varied topography and more buildings, to deal with the huge traffic pressure. Our country is at the beginning on research straddle-type monorail vehicle, for the related technologies were monopolized by Japan. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a set of perfect method on researching straddle-type monorail vehicle, which is developed and set up by ourselves.Based on the aerodynamics about style design about straddle-type monorail vehicle, aerodynamics of trains and computational fluid dynamics, several aerodynamic performances of straddle-type monorail vehicle were simulated and analyzed, which was put in the wind and in the cross-wind. The following achievements can be concluded:1. CAD simplified models and computation models of head straddle-type monorail vehicle were completed, which were in different head shape schemes.2. Fluid state parameters, computation models, turbulence model, boundary conditions and convergent iteration, which were used in external flow numerical simulation, were studied.3. Aerodynamic performances against wind of head straddle-type monorail vehicle were simulated and analyzed. On the basis of aerodynamic drag, external flow characteristics of different head shapes about straddle-type monorail vehicle were compared and analyzed.4. Aerodynamic performances against wind of straddle-type monorail vehicle were simulated and analyzed. External flow field structure and major impact factors on aerodynamics of straddle-type monorail vehicle were studied and analyzed. Some improvable suggestions about shape design were included.5. Aerodynamic performances under cross-wind of straddle-type monorail vehicle were simulated and analyzed. Major impact factors on aerodynamic characteristics under cross-wind of straddle-type monorail vehicle were studied and analyzed. Improvement measures for cross-wind stability were implemented.
