Along with the development of the coastal industry, channel construction and dredging industry, the cutter suction dredgers have been widly used. Especially from 2004, our country have designed and constructed several large non self-propelled cutter suction dredgers. But no matter the international conventions or domestic statutes have no requirement on the damage stability, however in service, especially in towing condition, there exist safty hidden dangers for such kind of dredgers. On the second hand, the statutes have no requirement on the limited bow height for non self-propelled cutter suction dredgers. But because of the small freeboard and fullness bow, in towing condition, the there exists heavily green water on deck, especially with high towing speed. The green water on deck may damage the bow device and then make the compartment flooding.This paper is based on the damage stability regulations for general transport ship in SOLAS2004 and other international conventions, researchs the damage stability and subdivision of two typical non self-propelled cutter suction dredgers and a self-propelled cutter suction dredger. On the other hand, this paper researchs the green water on deck in towing condition of the non self-propelled cutter suction dredger by spectrum analysis method. According to the calculation result, some suggestions will be raised for the subdivision and towing safty of non self-propelled cutter suction dredger. ?...
