Research On Schema Strategy Application Of Architecture

The paper is derived from the development of architecture. At present, the path of architecture in our nation is deviant, since there is a severe rupture between architectural design and structural design, which caused by historical reasons. Moreover, nowadays many domestic architects are still using classic architectural language from centuries ago. If we keep focusing on forms and patterns only, we will be left behind by foreign architects even more. Architecture tends to emphasize techniques and instruments; designers often make compromise with technology regardless basic principles; even architectural education favors courses with technical preference; but the real subjects that hold the key to understanding architecture have few researchers. Failed to comprehend the throughout process of architectural construction, we even impute the absence of architectural practice in college education to neglecting design instrument as the core point of architectural education. Consequently, architects are weaker in terms of space creation; they have narrow sight of thinking, and often being stuck on exterior forms rather than going deep into the essence of buildings. The place of architects is being challenged by engineers of construction and facility; therefore architects need to reconsider the knowledge that has been lost during the process in which architecture had become an independent subject, like the part of spatial experience, the influence of society and culture.Base on the differentiation of the concepts of "diagram","schema" and "Schema Theory" as well as their practical features, the paper proposed architectural " Schema Strategy", a new rational design approach; It trying to transform the design idea that once ruled by instinct or sensibility, into a new approach of compositing scheme and concepts. Introducing the idea of "Algorithm", and through deduction the paper tries to reach a level that is randomness-like, unpredictable, and full of opportunities. The paper is also trying to provide a reference model, by defining and developing the concept of "Algorithm", to promote interaction among multiple subjects, hence to generate inspiration for architectural design with more creativities.From the aspects of number, geometry, and music, the paper fully analyzed the structure of "Schema Strategy", as well as its functional mechanism. The paper encourages architects to discover and develop the concept of "Algorithm" from the angles of multiple subjects, which raised the requirement of professional capacity for architects. By studying typical cases, the paper tries to explore the inner structure of "schema", and research its origin and working process, to provide a reference thought for rational architecture development, and to enrich the future architectural design approach.
