Globoidal cam mechanism has many characteristics ,such as good high-speed performance, high positioning precision ,compact structure and easy precision compensation, so It has become the key driving device in the automatic mechanical and widely used in NC machines, machining center and automatic production lines. Because its spatial surface is very complicated and can't be outspreaded, it is very difficult to design and machine. So, the study on rapid design and precision machining of globoidal cam is very important.In this paper,the basic knowledge of the globoidal indexing cam was expounded,such as structural types,working principle,main parameters,meshing equation and the profile equation。The characteristics of Model,difficulties in modeling process,defects in usual Modeling Method and advantages of prarametric modeling are also analyzed. A prarametric modeling method through secondary development of CATIA was proposed, and the basic theory of the CAA(Component Application Architecture) was exceptionally discussed. A Modeling Method based on feature models was developed, which can realize Parametric Design of the globoidal indexing cam. This method can simplify the design course and improve the design efficiency, It offers a new design solution of the globoidal indexing cam.The usual process method of the globoidal indexing cam have been analyzed and compared in this paper. The programming techniques have been researched based on the globoidal indexing cam Numerical control processing special milling machine. After analyzing the defects of the programming method, an improved method was proposed, which can control programming error and correct the feed speed. At last, a special software was developed, which realized automatic programming.
