Panel to be as an important part of the car, with the feature that thin material, complex shape, large size structure and requires high surface quality, which is the one of the most important determinants of the overall performance and appearance. The design and manufacture of the panel is the key of the entire development process of the car to be a great extent determines the development cycle and cost. This article combines the reverse engineering technology, finite element analysis of car and automobile panel forming simulation technology to research the automobile panel that carries out a systematic study on the back of the car outside panel reverse modeling and structural optimization and CAE simulation technology forming process. The research shortens the vehicle development cycle and supplies the technology support in improving the quality of automobile panel and the overall vehicle.The article first discusses the concept of reverse engineering and research status, and focused on the two components of reverse engineering panel: measurement and post-processing. Measurement is the primary task of reverse engineering. This article uses Faro portable laser scanning system on the back door to get their point cloud scan data to reconstruct the model of the door; and then based on the data points to do multi- alignment, adjustment of coordinate system, pretreatment of removing noise spots, curve and surface fitting, building and other post-processing; Finally through the surface smoothness analysis to get a relatively high quality surface. This article uses the most popular, most widely used reverse engineering software - Imageware to reconstruct model from the scanned point cloud data; and then do the structure performance analysis of the back door model which set up by the reverse engineering to get the stress-strain aspects performance data of the spare parts, then feedback the data results to design department to optimize and improve the quality of panel.Finish the reconstruction of the back door surface and structural optimization, and then send model data into sheet metal forming simulation software - Dynaform. Through the surface mesh closure check of the back door, binder surface and addendum surface design, build back doors simulated punch shape, set a reasonable boundary conditions to do the forming process simulation of the back door. In the post-processing, offer a reasonable process improvement program on the possible defects to be as a basis for optimal design, technologies and mold designing.This article's research is that combines the reverse engineering and the CAE/CAM technology to implement the redesign of the auto-panel and get a totally different structure and appearance parts and ultimately achieving the purpose of product design innovation.
