Roots Blower belongs to volume blower, a kind of rotating machinery. It has many advantages, so that it has been widely used in many industries in the national economy. In harsher work circumstances such as cement, sewage treatment and other industries, rotor imbalance, misalignment, dynamic and static rub of impeller and other faults can easily happen on Roots Blower. Therefore, it is significant to detect the state of the Roots Blower and diagnose the faults. This paper analyzed and summarized the common faults types of Roots Blower, causes and features. In order to analyze the collected signals, a set of signal processing and analysis software was programmed, and its main functions include: data file format conversion, signal time domain analysis, the amplitude domain analysis, frequency domain analysis, wavelet (packet) analysis, HHT analysis, shaft center orbit, envelope analysis, and resonance demodulation. Been validated, the software can better achieve the processing and analysis of Roots Blower vibration signal and be applied in other devices on signal analysis.For a common fault of Roots Blower, dynamic and static rub of impeller, focused analysis and research were conducted. Analysis on the causes and features of the failure was conducted; woven signal processing and analysis system, wavelet analysis and EMD decomposition were used in fault analysis. The results showed that: EMD decomposition analysis is more suitable to extract fault features of dynamic and static rub of three-blade Roots Blower impeller. A fault diagnosis model of dynamic and static rub was established with the combination of wavelet analysis and neural network, and test results showed that the model is with high accuracy in the diagnosis. MATLAB software has a powerful function of numerical computing, a wide range of functional toolboxes, and a powerful interface development tool MATLAB GUI. In this paper, these MATLAB functions were applied in programming of signal processing and analysis software of Roots Blower and software on dynamic and static rub failure diagnosis of impeller. These two sets of software have features of friendly interface and powerful function. For convenience, these two sets of software could be compiled into separate executable file, so that they can run on a computer which MATLAB is not installed on.
