Mechatronic instrument has played an important role in the industry production with the function of automatic controlling, monitoring and alarming, data collection and proccessing for the industry production and manufacture. Currently there are some problems in mechatronic instrument industry such as single function without universal utility, low performance and reliability, which largely restrict the high precision and advanced development of China's manufacturing and processing industries. In addition, development of mechatronic instrumentation is also restricted by the long development period and update time. To solve the problems above, embedded technology is adopted to conduct a hardware platform design techniques research for a kind of mechatronic instrument with universal utility, and the prototype machine are designed using an embedded controller.Firstly, current condition and development trend of the mechatronic instrument in domestic and abroad is introduced and the needs for a kind of new mechatronic instrument hardware platform is put forward on the base of analysing the problems in the current mechatronic instrument industry. According to the needs analysing, putting forward the design method of that hardware platform with embedded technology.Secondly, according to the platform design concept, a combination mode of motherboard and interface expansion board is used to achieve mechatronic instrument hardware platform design, and according to the actual application needs of hardware platform, the system hardware function modules are divided.Thirdly, an embedded processor, S3C6410 with ARM core framework, is picked out to design the hardware platform and motherboard design detail is given for output module, CPU module, power module and resource allocation module, and besides, a kind of expansion board with input module is designed aiming at generality utility. In order to ensure system reliability, the signal integrity, EMC and other issues in the hardware design are analyzed, and solutions are proposed.Finally,describing the prototype debugging steps,test results for functions and performance of prototype.Two application examples of displacement measurement and temperature measurement are given to verify the system design.
