Design Of Fire Pump Control System Based On FM Standard

The feature and fire danger of the modern architectures have more and more high demand for performance and reliability of the automatic fire alarm and control system. Based on this background, an automatic and manual fire pump alarm and control system is designed according to the FM Approval Standard, Approval Standard for Controllers for Electric Motor Driven and Diesel Engine Driven Fire Pumps.The MCU main control panel is designed with C8051F020. The acquisition of the signals from the fire pump site, the intelligent judgement of the fault and fire, the storage of all kinds of information and the communication can be all achieved by the main control panel. The heavy-current control circuits for the fire pump are designed in the basis of the Soft Starter. The circuits can achieve the automatic and manual starting of the fire pump. In the heavy-current control circuits, the choice of the devices, the layout of the components, the design of the control circuits, the alarm circuits and the indicating circuits are all in accordance with the FM Approval Standard. The internal application program of the MCU is also designed in order to complete the intelligence and automation of the system. The program of the system is designed with the structured programming method. The EMC is the key to ensure that the system conform to the high reliability requirements of the FM Approval Standard. The EMC design of the system is conducted with the general controlling methods and principles for the EMC from two aspects: hardware and software. Finally, the performance tests of the MCU main control panel designed are carried out. The results of the tests state that the system designed fulfills the acquisition of the signals, the alarm of the fire and fault, the communication and the automatic starting of the fire pump successfully. It conforms to the requirements of the actual expectation.The alarm and control system for the fire pump with intelligence, automation and high reliability which is designed based on the FM Approval Standard is of great value for application.
