Headlamp is one of the most important electrical equipment during night-time drive, which has a crucial role on the night-time traffic safety; not only provides enough illumination, but also prevents driver's eyes from dazzle on the opposite. So it's very important to ensure the quality of headlamps. At present, most of the headlamp detection measures can not meet users's requirement with the stability of product performance, esay to operate and turn the production, and run for a long time.So it has become the research topics to take a new effective measure to detect headlamp. The paper takes advanced embedded technology into the headlamp detection field. The paper is studying an on-line headlamp detection system. The system combines the headlamp light detection with image transmission detection equipments. System can analyse and process headlamp optical image and automatically detect headlamp parameters to adjust the headlamp light to the appropriate location. At the same time, with the HMI function, the embedded headlamp detection measure greatly improves the flexibility of the system. The entire system is using advanced embedded technology, which is low-power, small size, low cost, and upgrade convenient. So the headlamp detection system will be popularization and high application value. The completion of this paper is the overall framework of the detection system, including chip selection, the options of inter-chip communication, and schematic drawing. At the same time migrating embedded LINUX operating system in the system so that the whole system is commodiously operated by the staff, also controled real-time by staff. Paper next work is completed start detection system with the application process, which is the main work of this paper, taking up most of the time, including the development of the upper and lower computer system driver, transplantation of bootloader, the distribution of chip storage, developed application system with CCS, and VC6.0. The Following work is mainly for testing and debugging the system, so that the detection system can work properly between the hardware and software. The paper is divided into seven chapters of contents. The first chapter mainly introduces the embedded technology as well as development of the detecting system in home and abroad, research contents and so on; The second chapter introduces project design of the system as well as theoretical principle; The third chapter expatiates the design of the kernel module of the system in detail; The fourth chapter discusses the transplant of embedded operating system–Linux; The fifth chapter introduces the development of the systemic self-starting and the driver; The sixth chapter discusses development of the systemic application; The last chapter simply summarizes the work which this topic does as well as the existing questions.
