The solar energy as the national’s prioritizes profession has been a sustained and stable development. In recent years, with the reserves of traditional energy sources reduced gradually, the use of solar energy become more and more important. So the solar energy industry obtained fast development. There are a lot of methods to use the solar energy. But solar energy as the heat energy is used more and more widely. Especially the solar energy water heater has become an indispensable product for many families. The thermal performance parameters of solar collector tubes as the device that turn the solar energy into heat energy determine the quality of solar energy water heater. Thus, to solve this problem, there is a need to design a device to test the thermal performance parameters of solar collector tubes.This paper designs a solar collector tubes thermal performance parameters detection device based on embedded Linux. In this paper, the low-power and high-performance chip ARM finish the work of CPU. To finish the task of signal acquisition, we add the signal acquisition module. And Linux that can be configured and cut by ourselves is selected to be the operating system. After analysis the working principle and function of solar collector tubes thermal performance parameters detection device carefully, determine the overall concept of software and hardware according to embedded operating system’s development flow. In hardware design, it has signal acquisition module, UART serial port, Ethernet module, LCD module. For the normal operation of the hardware, in software design, we transplant Bootloader and embedded Linux system, while design hardware driver program on this basis. Finally, according to the standard of thermal performance parameters of solar collector tubes, we design the application layer program to finish the detection of parameters, while we can realize remote and on-site human-computer interaction though network interface and LCD touch-screen interface. The experiment proved that the device can achieve the desired function well.This article includes computer technology, microelectronics, embedded Linux operating system, Qt GUI graphical interface, embedded web server and so on, involves extensive knowledge and has technical difficulty. At the same time, solar collector tubes thermal performance detection device is an embedded product that can be used to detect the quality of solar collector tubes by detection department through appropriate improving.
