Clinical healthy Jing-bai 939 cockerets of the same body weight were selected and divided into different groups randomly. Blood samples were taken when these cocks were 30 and 35 days old. The RBC-CR1 and RBC- IC percentage were determined by Guo Feng method. The results show that there is no significant difference in the percentage of RBC-CR1 and RBC-IC between different experimental groups (p>O.OS) ,and the experimental design meets the requirements ,and that the RBCs immunity is found to be relatively stable under given conditions. The factors affecting the RBCs immunity function and measures for solving the problems were studied and summed. In order to establish the experiment key steps and rules,. And also to examine the RBC immune function after ILT vaccine immunization of the avian, the birds were treated with vaccines at different dosages at 45 days of age. Group I was set as control. Group 2 was treated with vaccine only, group 3 was done with ILT vaccine while injected intramuscularly with Chinese herbal immunopotentiator formula 1 simultaneously. Group 4 was injected with Chinese herbal formula 2 along with the vaccinization. he immune function of red blood cells of the birds in different groups were measured at before the day 1, day 3 and day 9 post immunization. The results indicate that the RBC-CR1 and RBC-IC rosette rates were greatly decreased at day 3 post immunization with ILl vaccines in group 2, significantly differed from the other groups (p<0.0 1). the rates got to almost normal level at day 9 post vaccina.zation. suggesting ILT is capable of lowering down the red blood cell immune function of the birds .which would give way to subclinical infection and the virus re- survival .when Chinese herbal medicine immunopotentiator formula I or formula 2 was introduced, the RBC-CR1 rosette rate was found to be greatly higher than that of the controls(P<0.0 1 ,P<0.05),indicating the Chinese herbal immunopotentiator formulas can enhance the immune function, with the formula 1 being stronger than formula 2. For 52 days-old birds, group 5 was injected with the herbal formula i.m. , group 6 was injected with herbal formula 2.While group 7 was attacked by live virus. All the birds in the above groups were attacked with live virus at 55 days of age. The results of this treatment protocol show that the RBC-CR1 and RBC-IC rates in group 7 were significantly decreased compared with the other groups (P<0.01). The herbal medicine treated group retains a relatively higher level of RBC-CR1 and RBC-IC rates as pro-treatment. Herbal medicine plus vaccine treated groups 3 and 4 showed higher rosette rates compared with vaccine only group and the control. The results strongly suggest that the herbal medicine can enhance the immune function of the vaccine. Antibody titer were detected as the following: Group2group3group7
