The effects of Daidzein on growth, reproduction and cellular immune function in male piglets were studied in this thesis. The present research includes three parts, and the results are shown as follows: LEffects of Daidzein on the growth and the level of serum IGF-1 in male piglets. Twelve healthy male piglets with similar birthday and body weight were divided randomly into two groups and the experimental animals were injected subcutaneously with daidzein at the dose of O.Smgfkg.BW.3d for eight times. Compared with the control, body gain in the experimental group increased by 9.99% (P~O.O5) and IGF-l level increased by 15.93% (P>O.05) and 23.47% (PO.05) on the 42 21St day, but there was no significantly dilference..on the 25th day. 3.Effects of Daidzein on Ceilular Immune Function Blood samples were collected on the 20th, 22nd, 24th, 26th, 28th day after injection. These piglets were slaughtered and thymus and spleen were collected at the end of the experiment. Daidzein didn抰 significantly increased thymus and spleen weight. The Red Blood Count (RBC) from treated group inreased significantly by 12.53% (P<0.05) on the 22nd day. The White Blood Count (WBC) reached its apex on the 24th day (P<0.05) in treated male piglets, which was increased by 23.28% (P<0.0l), 14.04% (P<0.05), 8.23% andl7.96% (P<0.0l), respectively, compared with those on the 20th, 22nd, 26th, 28th day. The trend of ANAE positive rate of lymphocytes was similar to WBC, which inreased significantly by 18.45% (P<0.05) on the 24th day. Compared with those of 20th, 22nd, 26th, 28th, it was increased by 17.39% (P<0.01), 9.04% (P<0.05), 4.24% and 11.22% (P<0.05), respectively. But T-Lymphocyte transformation rate had no obvious change. In conclusion, Daidzein could significantly elevate the level of IGF-1 in the serum. But it has little effect on the testis weight and the level of testosterone. It also could increase WBC and I-Lymph (%), but had no significant effect on RBC and T-Lymphocyte transformation rate (%).
