The LWR (leaf to weight ratio), the weight ratio on wet to dry grass and the germination rate of different timothy varieties were firstly determined in this paper based on the experiment of eight timothy varieties at Ma zichuan village of Min County, Lai zibu village of Yuzhong County, Cao wotai village of Jingtai County and the Forage Station of Gansu Agricultural University.Meanwhile, varieties with higher yield, including forage yield and seed yield, and better nutritive value were selected after the study of the differential analysis of regional experiment, the differential significance on yield and nutritive value among varieties, experimental places and interaction between the variety and the experimental place. At the last, after comprehensive evaluation, Commonl, Riben timothy and Minshan timothy were better than the other varieties, and they could be planted in Yuzhong county, Min county, Jingtai county and other regions with similar climate, which could provide the guidance for the development of the local timothy industry.
