With the fast development of data gathering technology, " the ocean of the data" has formed. It has become a problem that people need to solve urgently to obtaining useful information and knowledge from the ocean fastly and to promote automation dealing with the data, intelligent analysis and decision support,etc. Theory, technology, method and application of relational database datamining and knowledge discovery(DMKD) already got abundant development. Spatial data distinguish with general relational data because it is non-structure characteristic . SDMKD is more complicated than general DMKD. But according to the expert estimation , spatial data account for information total amount 80% about, it is obvious that SDMKD has great significance and urgent task.Geography Information System( GIS) is main way of spatial data manage and analyse in recent years.Though spatial analyse is considered to be the soul and key of GIS, it lack ability to explore various kinds of spatial mode, spatial relationships, spatial distribution rules automatically hide in spatial data still at present. Combining GIS strong spatial analyse and operate ability, SDMKD Explore implicit , potential useful spatial characteristic and spatial mode, by apply DMKD technology to spatial data. Thus it offers corresponding spatial knowledge service for information management, scientific research, spatial decision and expand the application breadth and depth of GIS.Forestry is traditional application field of GIS. The domestic forest departments are raising the information-based tide. Forest GIS has played an important role among them, and will accumulate a large amount of spatial data of forestry too. The data in FGIS, reflect current situation and dynamic change about regional forestry resources. It has many characteristics such as wide source, large quantity, quick change, difficult to management. It is very much important to manage and analyse these data effectively, and to obtain spatial knowledge among them. Because it will offer scientific basis to manage, plan and make policy in forestry.This concern social- economic sustainable development.This paper sums up and summarizes SDMKD theory and method about space data. On this basis, the author designed a FDMKD prototype system on GIS developing platform and obtained spatial characteristic rules, spatial related rules and spatial classifyregulars from foundation geographical and forestry thematic data collection. Carry on verification of systematic function with experimental data , attempt use these knowledge rules in forestry decision and analyse . The first part reviews the produce, current situation and the developing trend of DMKD and SDMKD; The second part detail DMKD theory and SDMKD's knowledge type, existing technological method and SDMKD system general structure; The third part is one of the focals point that this paper discusses. It sketches the forestry GIS data characteristic and organizing way, Analyses the SDMKD technology and method suitable to FGIS's data characteristics. On the basis of this analyses and argumentation, the author design and realize one FDMKD prototype system with common-use GIS component MAPX, visual programming language Visual Basic, the large database management system Microsoft Server SQL, spatial database engineer Spatialware( For SQL Server); The fourth part is another focal point that this paper discusses. Choosed the forest data of studing area and used above-mentioned designed prototype system ,we realized forestry resouces characteristic rules, related rules and caracteristic rules.And we analysed and appraised the experimental result. The result indicates , the prototype system can find a many kind of regular knowledge in a large amount of forestry resouces data. But the validity,the rationality and some algorithms taking place in the course of mining wait to be studied and improved.
