In this thesis, we studied the effects of four different rates of organic substrates composed of Chinese traditional medicine residue on the growth, yield and quality of tomato (Provided by agricultural academic institute of china). The organic substrates used in the experiment were 100% CTM residue, 75% CTM residue + 10%vermiculite+15%perlite,50%CTM residue + 20%vermiculite+30%perlite, 25% CTM residue + 30%vermiculite+45%perlite.The experimental results showed that the different rates of CTM residues led to different effects on the plant height, stem diameter as well as growth of lamina of tomato plant. We also demonstrated that the different rates of CTM residues can give rise to different formation of chlorophyll. The different rates of CTM residues were found to affect the final yield of tomato. We still found that the different rates of CTM residues not only enhanced the content of Vc of tomato, but also increased the content of lycopene and improved commodity value. To summarize the effects of CTM residues on the yields and qualities of tomato, we concluded that the organic substrate composed of 75% CTM residue, 10%vermiculite and 15%perlite is great suitable for the growth of tomato.
