Studies On The Effect Of Several Seed Coating Agents On The Growth And Development Of Cotton

The paper includes three tests: The first test: The effect of several seed coating agents on germination viability and germination percentage of cotton seed ;The second test : The effect of different thickness of soil on seedling emergence percentage of cotton seed dealt with seed coating agents ;The third test: The effect of several seed coating agents on the growth and development of cotton . The results as follows:1.All those tested coating agents,Celest,Cruiser, ZSB-CT and Celest+ Cruiser,can raise germination viability ,but the effect on germination percentage is not evident.Furthermore,Celest even decrease the germination percentage.2.Dealt with seed coating agents , the seedling emergence percentage of cotton seed is most high with 2cm thick soil.Both thin and thick soil can decrease the seedling emergence percentage.3.Several seed coating agents have stimulative effect on plant height ,leaf age,fresh weight of seedling and the growth of root.All seed coating formulation can prevent disease except Cruiser,the effect of Celest is the best,ZSB-CT better,and then Celest+Crusiser.4.The effect on the growth and development of cotton dealt with different concentrations of seed coating agents is different: The effect of high concentrations of Celest,Cruister and Celest+Cruiser is better than that of low concentration, ZSB-CT has adverse effect.5.Celest, Cruister and ZSB-CT are membrane-character seed coating agents, the no-activity material are gradually changed into active material after seedling, those active material are released slowly and utilized by the seed and soil,therefore have stimulative effect on the growth and development, prevention to the disease and worm of cotton. ZSB-CT is a bacteria seed coating agent, its effect is fast, the effect of high concentration is better than that of low. The effect of other seed coating agents has adverse effect because there are some organic chemical material. So, we must consider all the factors while using a kind of seed coating agent.
