In this study, twenty microsatellite markers were used to analyze thegenetic diversity of four goat populations by PCR and non-denatured PAGEapproach. For each goat population, dominated allele frequency, private allelefrequency within population, polymorphism information content(PIC),genetic heterozygousity and effective allele number were calculated. Thegenetic distance among the four population of Boer, Lubei white, BL1 andBL2 were calculated. Dendrogram was constructed to evaluate the geneticvariability within population and genetic relations among populations. Theresults were as follows: The PIC of 14 microsatellite markers were more than 0.5. For each locus, the PIC was not significantly different among four populations. The dominant alleles and the private alleles found in each populationwere different.Five private alleles were found in Boer goat, whereas 33 privatealleles were found in Lubei white goat. The frequency of these private alleleswhich could be used to evaluate the genetic structure among populations as apopulation character was usually lower. The number of alleles was different for each microsatellite marker amongpopulations with the mean allele number being more than 4 and ranging from4.5556 to 6.0000. This indicate that the microsatellite markers selected in thisstudy were suitable for population variation analysis in goat. The mean heterozygousity of BL1 was the highest, in consistence withthe fact that BL1 do have the largest heterosis in practical breeding. Thehybrid and Boer goats showed more genetic identity. It is hopeful to cultivate anew breed that combine two parental excellent characters.
