| The study mainly performed two Chinese native breeds: Dahe and Yanan, and two crossbred pigs: Dawu and DLY, which have relatively high IMF content. The genetic variation in 5'-upstream region and the second intron of H-FABP were detected by PCR-RFLPs, in addition, we also studied the effect of H-FABP genes on intramuscular fat (IMF) in these four breeds.We investigated the polymorphisms of H-FABP gene and the frequencies of gene and genotype. For Hinf I -RFLP, there were polymorphisma in these four breeds. The frequencies of H allele for Hinf I -RFLP in Dahe, Dawu, Yanan, and DLY, were 0.8000, 0.5000, 0.5000, and 0.9650, respectively. For Hinf* I -RFLP, there were no polymorphisms in the other three breeds except DLY. The frequencies of B allele in DLY were 0.1960. For Msp I -RFLP, there were polymorphisms in these four breeds. The frequencies of A allele in Dahe, Dawu, Yanan, and DLY, were 0.8000, 0.2500, 0.9430, and 0.7960. For Haelll-RFLP, there were polymorphisms in the other breeds except Yanan, which only had DD. The frequentcies of D allele in Dahe, Dawu, and DLY, were 0.9500, 0.5000, and 0.1830.For Hinf I -RFLP, DLY had low polymorphism (PIC < 0.25), the other breeds had intermediate polymorphism (0.25 < PIC < 0.5). For Hinf* I -RFLP, DLY had low polymorphism (PIC <0.25), and others' PIC were zero. For Msp I -RFLP, Dahe and Dawu had had intermediate polymorphism (0.25 < PIC < 0.5), Yanan and DLY had low polymorphism (PIC<0.25). For Haelll-RFLP, Dahe and DLY had low polymorphism (PIC<0.25), the other two breeds had intermediate polymorphism (0.250.05), while the other three breeds were no polymorphism. For Msp I -RFLP, the means of IMFwere no detectable effets between the genotypes in Dahe, Dawu, and Yanan (P>0.05). But it had high significant difference between AA (IMF content was 1.9639?.7317) and Aa (IMF content was 2.5510?.7793) genotype (P<0.01).
