The main properties of HUAYU YDH-1 Type piston milking machine were tested as a sample machine such as pulsation rate, pulsator ratio, maximum pulsation chamber vacuum, minimum pulsation chamber vacuum. The existing problems of this type of piston milking machine were analyzed based on state requirement on milking machine .A new pulsator valve was designed and in the paper the principle of aerodynamics, mathematics, mechanism and computer aided methods are applied. How the structural parameters of the new pulsator valve affect the vacuum of milking chamber and bucket were tested and given. These test results can be applied to the optimization and improvement of piston milking machine products. The test also showed that the piston milking machine works better than the existing piston milking machine by adjusting the structural parameter of the new pulsator valve including the seat hole of both up and down ball-valve, the diameter of ball-valve and the size of exhaust hole.
