Tobacco quality (2002) and the ecological condition in Xiangyun County were appraised, which is located in low lattitude and high altitude area; and the factors that influenced tobacco quality were analyzed. Field experiments about flue-cured tobacco varities, water-soluble siliceous fertilizer, reducing nicotine content in tobacco leaves, etc. were carried to improve tobacco quality. Seven conclusions could be drawn as followed.1. Low potassium content and high nicotine content in leaves were the primary problems about tobacco quality in low lattitude and high altitude area. Moreover, because of less durative days of daily temperature equalization (≥20℃), tobacco quality was influenced by insufficient quantity of heat.2. Delgold, Newdel and CF209 were better; and it is necessary to study further.3. The treatments of advanced transplanting were better than CK (normally transplanting tobacco on May 1st) without exception. According to the actual conditions, transplanting tobacco under film in the ten-days of April or normally transplanting tobacco around April 20th was appropriate.4. The technique of twi-transplanting tobacco could solve the problem about the conflict between fore and aft crop. Among the treatments T4 was the best, i.e. raising seedling on February 24th, the first high-density transplanting in nutritive pots with nylon net covered on April 14th and the second transplanting under mulching cultivation on May 1 st.5. Spraying water-soluble siliceous fertilizer on leaf surface helped to increase yield and output value, to improve appearance quality and intrinsic quality of cured tobacco. Among the treatments T3 was the best, i.e. to spray 3kg/hm~2 water-soluble siliceous fertilizer for 3 times.6. Dressing reconstructive potassium fertilizer II helped to improve appearance quality and intrinsic quality of cured tobacco.7. The application of soil amendment helped to reduce the nicotine content of middle and upper leaves efficiently and to improve tobacco quality and the usability of upper leaves. The right amount of application is not less than 1500kg/hm~2.
